Privacy Policy
Effective July 14, 2026 · applies to the Meeemo app and meeemo.com
- Your notes are files on your Mac. They never touch our servers. We don't have servers for them.
- No account, no sign-up, no email required to use the app.
- The app counts anonymous feature usage (never content). One switch in Settings turns it off.
- Payments are handled by Creem; we never see your card.
- This website sets no cookies and runs no trackers.
Who we are
Meeemo is a Mac notes and todo app made by an independent developer. For anything in this policy, email bugs@meeemo.com.
Your notes stay on your Mac
Everything you write in Meeemo is stored as plain Markdown files in a folder you choose (default ~/meeemo). The app is local-first and works fully offline. We operate no note-hosting service, and the app never transmits note content, filenames, clipboard contents, or screenshots anywhere. Text recognized by Screen to Text is processed entirely on your device using Apple's Vision framework.
Sync you control
Sync is optional and uses services you already own:
- iCloud Drive — your notes folder moves into your iCloud Drive and Apple carries it between your Macs, under Apple's privacy policy.
- GitHub — the app pushes to a private repository you own, using an access token you create. The token is stored only in the app's local configuration on your Mac and is sent only to GitHub, under GitHub's privacy statement.
In both cases the data flows directly between your Mac and your provider. Nothing routes through us.
Anonymous usage statistics
To learn which features matter, the app sends anonymous usage counters. You can switch this off at any time in Settings, and the app keeps working exactly the same. What a report contains:
- a random device identifier (a UUID generated on first launch — not derived from your hardware, your Apple ID, or anything about you),
- the app version,
- event names from a fixed allowlist (things like "a note was created" or "the timer started") with a count and timestamp.
The receiving endpoint enforces this shape: it accepts only allowlisted event names and rejects anything else, so note content, filenames, or paths are structurally impossible to store. Counters are stored in a Cloudflare D1 database (Cloudflare acts as our infrastructure provider). We store no IP addresses alongside events. Because the identifier is random and never linked to a name, email, or purchase, this data cannot be traced back to you — which also means we cannot look up "your" rows to delete them; turning the switch off stops collection immediately.
Purchases and license activation
Pro purchases are processed by Creem, our merchant of record. Creem collects your email and payment details under Creem's privacy policy; we never receive your card number. We receive the order record and your email address so your license key can be delivered and support requests can be matched to a purchase.
When you activate a license, the app sends your license key and an instance label ("Meeemo on" followed by your Mac's computer name) through our license endpoint to Creem to mark the activation. Afterwards the app quietly re-validates the key about once a month. If you're offline, validation is skipped and the app never locks you out.
This website
meeemo.com is a static site served by Cloudflare. It sets no cookies, runs no analytics scripts, and embeds no third-party trackers. Cloudflare may keep short-lived operational logs (such as request logs for abuse protection) as described in Cloudflare's privacy policy. Checkout links lead to Creem's site, where Creem's policy applies.
Support email
If you email us, we keep the correspondence for as long as needed to resolve your issue and to keep basic support history. We don't add you to any mailing list.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal data (for example under the GDPR or CCPA). The personal data we can hold about you is limited to purchase records (via Creem) and support email. Write to bugs@meeemo.com and we'll handle it; for payment records we'll coordinate with Creem.
Children
Meeemo is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them — there's no account to create in the first place.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, the new version is posted here with a new effective date. A change will never retroactively expand what the app collects without the app itself telling you.
